More Than a Business: The Story Behind Violet Flame

Introduction
If you'd told me a few years ago that I'd be running a business called Violet Flame, I probably wouldn't have believed you.
At the time, I was building a Wellness and Balance Coaching business. I'd worked hard on it, but something never quite clicked. During my pregnancy with my youngest, my energy levels dropped, my motivation disappeared and I convinced myself it was because the business wasn't growing as quickly as I'd hoped.
Looking back, I don't think that was the real reason.
When I took time away on maternity leave, I finally had the space to stop and reflect. That's when I realised I hadn't just lost motivation – I'd lost alignment. The business I'd created no longer reflected who I was becoming.

Around the same time, I found myself thinking about something completely different.
After chatting to a couple of people at a Mind, Body and Spirit event, I came away with the idea of organising my own spiritual events. At first, I thought it would simply be a second business running alongside my coaching.
Then one idea led to another.
If I was running events, perhaps I could have a stall selling tarot, oracle and affirmation cards, along with crystals. Then I thought about offering mediumship and tarot readings at those events. I started researching Spiritual Life Coaching and realised it felt much more aligned with the direction I wanted to take my coaching.
Within a week, everything fell into place.
Instead of running two separate businesses, I realised they all belonged together.
That was the beginning of Violet Flame.

Why the Name Violet Flame

Finding the right name took time.
I wanted something that reflected the kind of business I was creating, so I explored lots of different ideas before eventually combining two suggestions into the name Violet Flame.
The more I thought about it, the more it felt right.
In many spiritual traditions, the Violet Flame symbolises healing and the transformation of negative energy into something more positive. That fitted perfectly with the heart of what I wanted this business to become.
Then there was another connection that made it even more meaningful.
My nan’s name was Violet.
As far as I'm aware, she wasn't a spiritual person, so I don't see the name as some sort of sign. But knowing that her name now lives on through my business makes it feel even more special to me.
Sometimes things simply feel right.
This was one of those moments.

What Violet Flame is Really About

People often ask me what Violet Flame is, and I completely understand why.
On the surface, it looks like a business with five different areas:
Spiritual Life Coaching
Mediumship & Tarot Card Reading
Events
Cards & Crystals
Wellness Experiences, including Temple Spa
But to me, those aren't five separate businesses.
They're five different ways of helping people.
Every person who comes to Violet Flame is different. Some people want coaching to help them reconnect with themselves. Others are looking for reassurance through a mediumship or tarot reading. Some enjoy learning through events, while others find comfort in working with cards or crystals at home. For someone else, taking time out for a wellness experience might be exactly what they need.
Different people need different kinds of support.
Rather than trying to make everyone fit into one service, I wanted to create a business that could meet people where they are.
When I looked at it that way, bringing everything together under one name just made sense.

What I Hope People Experience
More than anything, I want people to feel safe when they come to Violet Flame.
I want them to feel they can be themselves without worrying about being judged.
I want them to feel able to ask questions, explore their own beliefs and discover what feels right for them.
If someone leaves a coaching session with stronger boundaries, that's wonderful.
If they leave a reading feeling reassured and lighter than when they arrived, that's wonderful too.
If they attend an event and find a community where they finally feel they belong, that's just as important.
For me, it's never been about telling people what they should believe or how they should live their lives.
It's about creating a space where they can discover those answers for themselves.

My Approach to Spirituality
People sometimes have misconceptions about spirituality.
Some think it's another word for religion.
Others think spiritual people are always calm, always positive and never experience anger, doubt or difficult emotions.
I don't believe any of that.
To me, spirituality is about purpose. It's about believing there's something bigger than ourselves, while recognising that each person's path is unique.
My own path is probably best described as eclectic.
I was raised as a Christian, and those roots are still an important part of who I am. I've also attended Worksop Spiritualist Church since I was seventeen, although there have been times when life has taken me away and then brought me back again. Over the years I've become interested in Christo-Paganism because it allows me to honour my Christian beliefs while embracing other spiritual practices that resonate with me.
That path won't be right for everyone.
And that's absolutely fine.
One of the things I believe most strongly is that nobody should be told what they have to believe.
You don't have to follow the same path as me to work with me.
You don't even have to describe yourself as spiritual.
All I ask is that you come with an open mind.

Still Learning
One thing you'll quickly discover about me is that I don't pretend to know everything.
I'm still learning.
I'm still developing my mediumship.
I'm still discovering more about crystals, tarot and oracle cards.
I'm still exploring how different spiritual traditions fit together in my own life.
I'm even still learning to be more confident in myself.
I don't see that as a weakness.
I think it's important.
Years ago, I wished I'd had someone to walk alongside me while I explored my own spiritual journey. Not someone to tell me what to think, but someone who could answer questions, encourage me and help me find my own way.
That's the kind of support I hope to offer other people.

Looking Ahead

When I think about the future of Violet Flame, I don't just think about growing a business.
I think about building a community.
I'd love to see people meeting through events, supporting one another, learning together and feeling they belong.
I'd love to run more Mind, Body and Spirit events, spiritual development classes and workshops. I'd love to continue growing the Temple Spa side of the business and, one day, have a dedicated Violet Flame space where people can come for coaching, readings, workshops and community gatherings.
It's a big vision.
But every business starts somewhere.

My Hope for Violet Flame
If someone asked me what I hope Violet Flame will achieve, my answer would be quite simple.
I hope it helps people reconnect with themselves.
I hope it reminds them that it's okay to walk their own path, even if that path looks different from everyone else's.
I hope it gives people guidance when they need it, reassurance when they're struggling and a place where they feel accepted exactly as they are.
Violet Flame isn't here to tell people what to believe.
It isn't here to replace professional help or to convince anyone to change their religion.
It's here to offer support, encouragement and a safe, non-judgemental space where people can explore, learn and grow in whatever way feels right for them.
Because we're all different.
We all have different experiences.
And we all need different kinds of support.
That's why Violet Flame exists.
I'm so glad you're here, and I look forward to being part of your journey, wherever it may lead.
